SID / STAR & ALTERNATES
If your account has Autorouter enabled (go to Settings in Account and Settings to check if this option is selected), then you can use these settings to control how arrival and departure routes are calculated, and how the software handles alternates.
Note: The Additional Alternates feature is only available on request; contact your sales team.

Details |
Auto SID |
Select from the options available (Off, Shortest, Longest) to control which departure or arrival routes are preferentially used to calculate flight routes and fuel requirements. These settings override the default options selected in your account settings. Note: The Autorouter selects the shortest or longest route that meets the selected flight level requirements. |
Auto STAR |
|
SID |
You can optionally set the Autorouter to use a Standard Instrument Departure from the drop-down list of routes available for the chosen departure aerodrome. This overrides the Auto SID setting which switches to Off. The SIDs available are listed alphabetically by terminator and show the distances to the nearest nautical mile (NM). Click in the flight map to view the standard departure routes on the map. Click Do Not Set in the drop-down list to clear the selection. |
STAR |
If Auto STAR is set to Off, you can optionally set the Autorouter to use a Standard Terminal Arrival Route from the drop-down list of routes available for the chosen arrival aerodrome. This overrides the Auto STAR setting which switches to Off. The STARs available are listed alphabetically by terminator and show the distances to the nearest nautical mile (NM). Click in the flight map to view the standard arrival routes on the map. Click Do Not Set in the drop-down list to clear the selection. |
Take-off Alternate |
Select an alternate to be used immediately after take-off if the aircraft is unable to return to its departure airport. If you have preferred alternates already set in the default flight data, then click one of these from the Preferred list, or enter a new alternate. Select a flight level for the route to the alternate if you want to override the flight level automatically used by the software (based on the great circle distance). Refer to this online article for further information on the alternate flight level option. Then choose the required STAR from the drop-down list of available routes for that alternate. The route string to the alternate is displayed in the box below. |

Additional Alternates |
If this option is enabled on your account, you can select additional destination alternates for the current flight by clicking the box in this section and entering the ICAO code for the airport (or selecting from the drop-down list). The fuel needed to reach each of these alternates will then be added to the Loading Summary screen when the fuel requirements are calculated. Refer to this online article for further information. Click the '+' or '-' buttons to add or remove alternates. |
