USING THE MAP TOOLBAR
The flight map window contains a toolbar with a number of useful features to help with flight route planning.

Weight and Balance |
Click this button to display the weight and balance window used in fuel calculations. Click the button again to hide the window. |
Documents |
Click this button to open the Flight Documents window to the right of the map, which contains tabs for displaying the flight log, weight and balance graph, vertical profile and user's manual. Click the button again to hide the window. |

Goto Waypoint, Town |
Click this button to display a dialog. Enter a waypoint, Navaid, ICAO code, town name or post code to centre the map at that location (which will be marked with a blue circle). |

Draw |
Click this button to switch to the VFR edit mode (it will turn blue). Once all changes are made, click the button again to lock the new route on the map. |
|
Focus on Route |
Click this button repeatedly to alternately display the start, end and entire length of the route. |
|
Focus on My Location |
Click this button to centre the map on your current location (which will be marked with a blue circle). Note: Your internet browser needs to share your location for this feature to work correctly. |
Click this button to activate distance measurement mode (it will turn green). Left-click two points on the map and the great circle distance between them is displayed in nautical miles. Continue to left-click further points to measure the distance between each point (black labels) and the total distance (white labels). Click the toolbar button again to clear the measurements from the map. Refer to this online article for further information. |

Buy Charts and Plates |
Click to display a list of charts that can be superimposed on the map. Click the box to display a chart. If required, click the basket icon to purchase charts for specific countries or regions from your supplier. |

Open Settings Window |
Select the display settings for the map from the options available. Click in the settings window to view the legend showing the meaning of the various map symbols. Click anywhere on the map to close the legend. |

Clear Map Settings |
Click this button to remove the map settings (except for the map format). |
|
SID/STAR |
Click to display Standard Instrument Departure and Standard Terminal Arrival Route tracks for departure and destination aerodromes (IFR flights). |
Weather Data
If one of the weather data options is selected in the map settings window, then world-wide weather data can be viewed on the map to help with planning a route that avoids severe weather and the possibility of delays.
You can view the most recent data over a 90-minute period at intervals of 15 minutes by clicking the arrow buttons in the bottom right corner of the screen:

Select the map view from the options: Terrain, Roadmap, Outline, Satellite. |
Airports |
Select whether to display the locations of all nearby airports or only those in certain categories (only IFR, both IFR and VFR, or helipads). |
Waypoints |
Switch On to display all official waypoints, including those using distance measuring equipment (DME) and/or VHF omni-directional radio ranging (VOR), as well as non-directional beacons (NDB). The number and type of waypoint displayed depends on the map scale. Click a waypoint to view its name and location, and click the name in the dialog to view an aerial image of the waypoint. The Legend shows which symbol refers to each type of waypoint. |
Airspace |
Select On to display defined regions of airspace. Shaded areas of airspace apply to ground level, while unshaded areas only exist between specific altitudes. Click and drag the green sliders at the top of the settings window to change the altitude range for which the airspace is displayed. Different types of airspace are shown by colour as follows: Red - Airport and terminal radar service areas; class B, C, D and E areas; controlled traffic regions or areas; other terminal areas. Red diagonal lines: Restricted, Prohibited, Danger, and Warning areas. Blue - Unknown areas; military aerodrome traffic zones. Yellow - Alert and Caution areas; training and military operations areas. Green - Other military areas. |
MORA |
Select On to display the grid minimum off-route altitudes in hundreds of feet for each latitude/longitude block of one degree square. |
User Defined Areas |
Select On to display the User Defined Areas created on your account. |
IFR High |
Choose to display either the high- or low-level airways used for IFR flights. See this online article for further information. |
IFR Low |

Eastbound NAT OTS |
Select to display the most recent eastbound (blue) and westbound (green) paths of the North Atlantic Organized Track System. |
Westbound NAT OTS |
|
NOTAM |
Select On to display all current NOTAMs as shaded circles (very large areas are unshaded with a red dashed border). Areas where multiple NOTAMs apply are indicated by darker shading. Click the blue icon in the centre of the area to display more information about the NOTAM(s). |
TFRs |
Select to display areas in the United States under temporary flight restrictions. |
VRPs |
Select On to display all visual reference points. Click a VRP to view its name and location, and click the name in the dialog to view an aerial image of the VRP. |
User WPTs |
Select On to display all local user waypoints. |
OFMA VFR |
Select On to display VFR charts provided free of charge by your supplier and the Open Flightmaps Association for certain European countries. See this online article for further information. |
Default Avoid Areas |
Select On to display the areas previously selected to always avoid when planning routes on your account using Autorouter. |
Select On for one of these three options to display recent weather radar (in green) and/or lightning data (in blue) on the map. |

CB Nowcast +30/+60 |
Select On to display short range CB weather forecasting of thunderstorms 30 and 60 minutes in the future (if available for your region). |
